The Cook is a key member of the dining team tasked with providing nutritious high quality food to support a truly great dining experience is when our guest's needs are anticipated and met for them, resulting in a very high degree of satisfaction. 

Responsibilities

Prepares food daily as outlined on the menus. Alters or adapts recipes to accommodate special dietary needs of residents or to improve recipes. Ensures attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.

Coordinates and participates in serving food. Monitors portion control to meet residents' requests and minimize waste. Maintains an accurate record of chargeable meals (resident, guest and catered). Submits record to the office by the designated date each month.

Assists with menu planning; reviews and adjusts menus with Director of Dining to accommodate foods in season, vendor sale prices, special events and holidays.

Assists in identifying food and supplies needed for the next week's menus and reports to the Dietary Manager. Prepares meats for storage and portion control upon delivery; ensures proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.

Keep track of and order supplies.

Makes accurate disbursement of residents’ trust fund.

Performs clerical duties for department heads as necessary.

Provides team spirit by cross training to help others within the office.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED
Some college or culinary school experience preferred
Residential/Commercial cooking experience
One to three years cooking experience in a geriatric environment preferred
