Assistant Athletic Trainer (temporary position)

Job Description

NUMBER OF DAYS PER YEAR: February-May (approximately)

NUMBER OF HOURS PER DAY: 8 hours per day

SALARY: Based on experience

POSITION BEGINS: Immediately

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prevent, assess, rehabilitate, and treat emergency, acute, and chronic injuries

  • Recondition athletes after injury to prevent injury recurrence, impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities
  • Daily coverage of practices and home events at Franklin Community Schools
  • Maintain a daily treatment log, injury reports, and doctor referrals
  • Refer to physician for follow-up care of injuries
  • Communicate with all constituents on a regular and planned basis (ATCs, coaches, parents/families, AD, physicians, and strength coaches)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledgeable in anatomy/physiology and medical terminology
  • Knowledgeable in current treatment techniques, rehabilitation techniques, and functional progressions.
  • Ability to effectively provide quality care and service to appropriate patients
  • Ability to communicate effectively with athletic training staff, coaches, patients, families, and physicians
  • Ability to organize responsibilities and to set priorities
  • Ability to function independently and make independent judgments and sound decisions
  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing work conditions
Education and/or experience
  • Bachelor's Degree by hire date to position.
  • Graduate of NATA-approved curriculum
  • Active certification by the Board of Certification (BOC)
  • AHA BLS for healthcare providers or Red Cross professional rescuers is required.
  • Licensed to practice athletic training in the state of Indiana.
