Job Description
Mutual Savings Bank is a community bank headquartered in Johnson County on the south side of Indianapolis who focuses on helping people finance their homes and businesses, live better and plan for their future, as well as making our community a better place to live, work and play. We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join the Bank in this mission.
Summary
The primary purpose of the Chief Financial Officer is to oversee the financial functions of the Bank. While overseeing the accounting process of the Bank, the individual will play a key role in developing and implementing financial plans and policies and managing asset/liability management issues, as well as interest rate risk strategies. The individual may oversee the Bank’s investment portfolio. The individual will work closely in person with the CEO, Board of Directors, senior management, internal and external auditors, and direct reports in the Accounting Department (3 or more) to maintain the integrity of the Bank’s financial reporting and analysis. The individual will exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
Responsibilities
- Execute the financial strategy of the Bank
- Manage financial controls and accounting procedures
- Ensure full transparency over the financial performance of the Bank
- Provide advice on how to increase revenue and reduce costs
- Effectively and clearly communicate potential risks in a timely manner
- Propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained
- Support the CEO with the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports
- Maintain speed and accuracy of billings and vendor payments
- Gather documentation for the Bank’s accounting firm to produce tax returns
- Ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting
- Oversee preparation of ALM model report
- Actively oversee and monitor the overall liquidity of the Bank
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written, which would include organization of materials and presentation skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
