Discover Downtown Franklin, Inc. has an opening for an Executive Assistant, whose primary responsibilities within the organization include coordinating marketing efforts and overseeing the seasonal Franklin Farmers Market. This part-time position without benefits reports to the Discover Downtown Franklin Board of Directors and works flexible hours throughout the week based on projects, and additional evening and weekend hours as needed for Farmers Market and events.

Scope of Work: 

The Executive Assistant’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Executive Director with revitalization activities using the Indiana Main Street’s Four-Point Approach, developing all marketing and social media materials for the organization, facilitating the seasonal Franklin Farmers Market, and promoting and representing the organization to the public and at Main Street program events. This position will be evaluated annually by the Executive Director.

Marketing Duties:
  • Develop engaging content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok)
  • Facilitate content for advertisements via print and social media
  • Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments
  • Review analytics and create reports on key metrics for Board of Directors
  • Create weekly newsletters via Mailchimp
  • Regularly add to content stock (videos, photos)
  • Create and maintain a communications calendar via Hootsuite
  • Assist third party company (Clever Dogs Media) in keeping website up-to-date Update monthly blogs
  • Weekly communication with businesses via email to promote economic vitality
  • Create graphics via Canva or other design software or platforms
Franklin Farmers Market:
  • Review vendor applicants and determine eligibility based on market rules established by associated committee
  • Collect vendor fees and maintain accurate records of payment
  • Create and assign vendor placement map
  • Ensure that all applicable licenses, permits, and insurances are filed
  • Assign and maintain volunteer base for Farmers Market
  • Be present at the Market on Saturday mornings from 6:30am - 1:00pm for set up and tear down.
Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Regularly attend monthly committee and board meetings
  • Assist E.D. in planning of annual fundraiser events
  • Maintain a board member volunteer hour database
  • Assist E.D. with distribution of printed materials to downtown businesses and entities
  • Help E.D. organize the annual meeting in December
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong time management skills
  • Knowledge of analytics tools (insights on Facebook, Instagram, Google Reviews)
  • Detail-oriented approach
  • Baseline knowledge of Main Street Organizations and the Four Point Approach
  • Prior experience in social media or marketing is a plus
  • Able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
