Being the face of Main & Madison Market Café while executing client events - setup through the duration of the event
Assisting the Director of Events & Catering in catering and event details as needed, including, but not limited to, planning, food preparation, and day-of-event activities.
Event schedules are very fluid and can be scheduled during our restaurant open hours of 6:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., any day of the week.
* Weekends are required for work as most events are on Saturday and Sunday between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. *
Select evenings will be required for scheduled After-Hour special events.
Ability to talk - both in person and by telephone
Ability reach, carry, push and pull with hands and arms
Ability to regularly stoop, kneel, bend, crouch
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
Ability to stand, walk, and climb one flight of stairs carrying items up to 25 pounds.
Day to Day- Behind the Scenes
Working with the Director of Events & Catering to maintain the event calendar with accurate information so management staff is properly informed
Helping in the Café as needed. Having a “team” mindset and willingness to learn different roles if needed during a scheduled shift
Happily assisting “walk in” event clients when they come in looking for information
Collecting payments for Reservation Fees, Deposits, and Final Payment on events, processing on POS, and recording the receipts on file in an organized fashion
Understanding all menus and pricing so you can accurately present the information to clients and charge correctly for their event
Promptly and professionally returning all incoming emails and inquiries from the Event’s email inbox if the Director of Events & Catering is absent
Event Days- On-Site Events
Setting up the guest tables, guest chairs, buffet table, gift table, etc in the reserved event space prior to the client’s scheduled setup time
Preparing all menu items on platters/bowls according to host’s selected food choices and setting up the food buffet table accordingly
Polishing all china, silverware, platters, and service-ware for the event
Entering the order into the POS system and start host’s tab to be prepared for the event and properly calculate the cost of the event
During the event, continuously checking on guests and remove trash, dirty dishes
Communicating with host regarding any needs that arise
Replenishing the buffet to ensure the event has everything need throughout
Ensuring the event space is thoroughly cleaned and set back to the original set-up needed for the next day following
Maintaining all items in the Event Department’s equipment spaces located upstairs and in the basement, including weekly organizing and straightening to ensure all equipment, dinnerware, and service-ware is available and in good working condition prior to events
Informing Director of Events & Catering when stock is low or damaged in any way.
Producing the food order according to the pastry/prep sheet and following the Catering Book Guidelines to prepare each item correctly
Placing all food in an appropriate vessel based on the prep sheet notes (platters/boxes/bowls)
Ringing the order into the POS for payment if not already paid in advance
Packing all paper products according to how many people the order is feeding if needed
Helping the client load up their car to ensure the food is safely transported to their location
If the order is setup for delivery, making sure you know the address in advance and planning to arrive to the location 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled time
Other tasks may be asked of you during your time of employment as we shift into new events and we work to grow our catering and events business
