We are seeking a quality, responsible Class B-CDL or Class C-CDL Bus, Car and Van Driver dedicated to providing safe and timely transportation services to the Residents of Otterbein Franklin.

Full-time and part-time positions available.

The driver will have responsibility of transporting residents to activities and appointments as directed by the transportation supervisor and or manager. Transportation will be done in company vehicles such as cars, vans, and buses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Complete driving schedule as assigned and assist other drivers were needed.
Maintain trip logs and file with transportation manager or supervisor.
Keep vehicles in a high state of cleanliness, inside and out.
All vehicles are to be kept full of fuel, fill the last vehicle you are driving for the day before leaving, this includes buses.
Assist residents on trips, being sensitive to their needs.
Be responsible to check fluid levels on vehicles on a regularly scheduled basis.
Drive Sunday church bus as scheduled.
Report any repairs that are needed on vehicles to Transportation Manager and Person responsible for vehicle repairs.
All other duties as assigned.
Be certified in basic first aid

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED), and one to three months’ minimum related experience and/or training by the transportation department, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Commercial driver’s license, class B-P or C-P (Passenger endorsement), and be insurable under Community’s insurance plan. Good working knowledge of Greater Indianapolis Metro Area roads/streets and otherwise good with directions, maps, etc. The driver needs the ability to work with both public and residents in a wide variety of situations. Employee must participate in orientation training, attend mandatory in-services and/or other department specified training in-services and meetings.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to use the Community’s computerized time-clock system and in-service system plus the employee self-service system. Supervisors must have the ability to operate computer for scheduling, e-mails and other computer based skills such as map quest, Google maps, and flight tracker.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk. Frequently he/she must assist residents to and from appointments - walking with and/or transporting them in wheelchairs or other mobility assistive equipment – which often times includes riding in and operating an elevator. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. During emergencies and without the use of elevators, the employee must be able to report to assigned area within multi-floored facility and physically assist in resident transfers and evacuations.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee is required to transport residents to and from designated areas within the multi-floored Continuing Care Retirement Community that operates 24 hours every day to various destinations away from the facility. The employee is required to operate a variety of Community vehicles. Employee must have an appropriate valid driver’s license for each type of vehicle employee operates and credible proof of insurability. While using specified protective equipment (including latex, plastic, and other materials) during the normal performance of duties, the risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens or infectious diseases is unlikely and the risk of exposure to chemicals or other hazardous materials is unlikely.
